How Render bills
Render charges for three things: a workspace plan (a flat monthly fee), metered features such as bandwidth, and compute for each service, prorated to the second.
Workspace plans
| Plan | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $0/mo + compute | 1 seat, 25 services, 5 GB bandwidth, 2 custom domains |
| Pro | $25/mo + compute | Unlimited seats, 25 GB bandwidth, autoscaling, workspace audit logs, 15 custom domains |
| Scale | $499/mo + compute | 1 TB bandwidth, SAML SSO and SCIM, organization audit logs, 25 custom domains |
| Enterprise | Custom | — |
Compute for web services and workers
| CPU | Memory | Price per month |
|---|---|---|
| Free (less than 1 CPU) | 512 MB | $0 |
| Less than 1 CPU | 512 MB | $7 |
| 1 CPU | 2 GB | $25 |
| 2 CPU | 4 / 8 / 16 GB | $85 / $135 / $200 |
| 4 CPU | 8 / 16 / 32 GB | $175 / $225 / $350 |
Usage charges
- Bandwidth over your plan's allowance: $0.15/GB.
- Build minutes beyond the 500, 1,000 or 5,000 included: $5 per 1,000.
- Custom domains beyond those included: $0.25 each per month.
- Persistent disks: $0.25/GB per month. A service with a disk can't scale to more than one instance.
- Postgres from $6/mo; Key Value from $10/mo.
Free tier
Free web services spin down after 15 minutes without traffic and take about a minute to wake. Each workspace gets 750 free instance hours a month. Free Postgres databases expire 30 days after creation.
A worked example
One always-on web service (512 MB) and the smallest paid Postgres on the Hobby plan: $0 + $7 + $6 = $13 a month, plus bandwidth beyond 5 GB.
On ComputeSphere
On ComputeSphere you pay a flat plan per team (Hobby $0, Pro $24, Team $99 a month) plus a fixed monthly price for each spherelet your account holds, from $6 for Flex 512 MB. Compute isn’t metered by CPU, memory or requests, and every plan includes unlimited team members.
Questions
Does Render charge per seat?
No. Render charges a flat workspace fee; Pro and above include unlimited seats.
Is Render's free tier enough for production?
Free web services spin down after 15 minutes idle, and free Postgres expires after 30 days, so most production apps run on paid compute.
