Connect a domain managed at another provider

The same two records work at every DNS provider — only the labels in the dashboard change. Before you start, add your custom domain in ComputeSphere and copy your service URL — for example d-silver-cobra-ab12c.computesphere.app.

Connect a subdomain

For www.example.com, app.example.com, api.example.com, etc., add a single CNAME:

Type Name / Host Value / Points to
CNAME www d-silver-cobra-ab12c.computesphere.app

This works on every provider. Most dashboards call the field Name or Host — enter just the subdomain (www), not the full domain.

Connect a root (apex) domain

A root domain (example.com) can't take a CNAME. The simplest way to serve it directly — on any provider, including GoDaddy — is to point the apex at ComputeSphere's IP addresses with A and AAAA records.

Add the A and AAAA records the Console shows for your domain, using @ (or your bare domain) as the name:

Type    Name / Host    Value
A @ 162.159.143.43
A @ 172.66.3.39
AAAA @ 2606:4700:7::31b
AAAA @ 2a06:98c1:58::31b

Use the exact addresses shown in Console → Domains when you added the domain. Add every A and AAAA address listed. The AAAA records cover visitors on IPv6 networks. The root domain is then served directly — no redirect needed.

On GoDaddy, for example: open your product → DNS → Records → Add, choose type A, name @, and one of the IPv4 values above; repeat for the second A and both AAAA records. Remove any default parked A record on @ first.

Alternatives

If you'd rather not manage A/AAAA records:

  • Your provider supports ALIAS / ANAME / flattening (e.g. DNSimple, DNS Made Easy, NS1, easyDNS): point the apex at your service URL with an ALIAS/ANAME record:

    Type Name / Host Value / Points to
    ALIAS (ANAME) @ d-silver-cobra-ab12c.computesphere.app

    The root domain is then served directly — no redirect needed.

  • www primary + redirect: add a CNAME for www → d-silver-cobra-ab12c.computesphere.app (see Connect a subdomain), then use your provider's domain forwarding feature to redirect the root to https://www.example.com with a permanent (301) redirect.

After you save

Return to Console → Domains in ComputeSphere. The domain moves from Validating to Active once the record resolves and the SSL certificate is issued — usually within a few minutes, though DNS can take longer to propagate. You don't upload or manage a certificate; ComputeSphere issues and renews it automatically.
